Silvia Almada Monter wins Kippenhahn Prize

The Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA) has awarded the Rudolf-Kippenhahn-Prize for the best scientific paper by a student to Silvia Almada Monter.
Silvia received the award for her paper titled “Crossing walls and windows: the curious escape of Lyman-α photons through ionized channels”. Her research challenges existing assumptions about how Lyman-alpha photons escape from galaxies, proposing a new physical picture.
The prize recognizes originality, scientific impact, and the quality of writing in publications where students made substantial contributions.
